Transnational Training Continues at the RTC in Ghana

As part of our international outreach activities on behalf of the Department of State, CTP has been operating the West Africa Regional Training Center (RTC) in Accra, Ghana. With the guidance of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), the RTC is now offering “Employing Special Techniques in Transnational Organized Crime Investigations.”

This course will train criminal investigators in the use of specialized investigative techniques needed to effectively investigate transnational organized crime (TOC) activity. The training develops the specific skills needed to successfully prepare for and conduct controlled deliveries and undercover meetings, including eliciting cooperation from a violator, preparing for an undercover meeting, the proper use and handling of informants, establishing an undercover identity and other surveillance techniques. Learn more about this course, as well as other upcoming courses by visiting the RTC’s Course Library at https://www.westafricartc.org/courses.

Even after the training sessions conclude, the RTC remains committed to the sharing of knowledge and skills in order to enhance the cooperative work of participants in their respective fields of work. Upon completion of RTC courses, Alumni often offer ideas and feedback on their experiences. One such contribution, entitled “Alumni in Focus,” features a review given by Mrs. Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, a Chief State Attorney in Ghana. We hope her story will inspire all RTC Alumni and future participants to be similarly engaged with the RTC.
