Junior Instructional Designer

CTP is a privately held small business based in Alexandria, VA. We provide trade and security services for government and private clients and deliver technical assistance programs in over 80 countries around the world. CTP provides specific solutions or full lifecycle support, including course and curriculum design, expert instruction, logistics support, monitoring & evaluations, knowledge management, strategic planning, program management, and staffing services.

Primary Responsibilities

The Instructional Designer participates in all phases of the ADDIE instructional design methodology.  The ideal candidate will:

  • Design instructionally sound web-based and/or instructor-led courseware
  • Storyboard courseware and design interactive and engaging HTML course components
  • Use design elements (text, graphics) to communicate logical sequence within a lesson
  • Be conversant in Section 508, HTML, CSS, and SCORM
  • Adhere to project schedule and manage work to allocated budget
  • Demonstrate superior oral and written communication skills
  • Able to adapt and understand instructional priorities



  • 2+ years instructional design experience, working with adult learners
  • Experience working with Articulate 360, specifically integrating Storyline and Rise
  • Experience writing scenario-based, narrative-driven, and interactive, courseware
  • Understanding of curriculum design principles
  • Able to develop metrics and criteria to measure training effectiveness

Educational and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Human Resources, or related field such as Public Administration, Organizational Development, or Industrial Psychology required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience working in a government contracting environment highly desired

Position Details


United States, DC area with the potential for both domestic and international travel.

Security Clearance

Must have, or ability to obtain, a clearance if required. Background check clearance required prior to prospective employment.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office environment.

Physical Requirements

Largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Authorization

Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
