Near East

CTP first entered the Near East in 2001, supporting executive exchanges with the United Arab Emirates that grew into foundational export control training. In recent years, CTP's focus in this region has multiplied, and we now boast support of export control and anti-terrorism efforts in a dozen countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

Beginning in 2004, CTP training in Jordan focused on the legal foundations of export control, eventually branching to include licensing training, industry-government outreach, and proliferation awareness. Working with a variety of Jordanian partners, including the Cooperative Monitoring Center in Amman, CTP has helped multiple agencies work together to achieve a functioning strategic trade control system in line with international standards.

In the Palestinian Territories, CTP has conducted nine anti-terrorism training workshops since fall 2007, including Vital Installation Security, Interdicting Terrorist Activities, VIP Protection, and Instructor Development to institutionalize these courses in the recipient organizations. For these multi-week courses, CTP assembles and deploys instructor teams composed of former federal law enforcement officers. Hailing from 15-25 year careers in the FBI, CIA, Customs, and other agencies, these experts draw on their extensive backgrounds to instruct local law enforcement officials in specific anti-terrorism curricula.
