East Asia & Pacific
CTP's extensive work throughout the East Asia region has spanned China, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam since 2000. CTP has worked with several East Asian nations to comprehensively develop trade control systems, beginning with facilitating exchanges of key officials and extending through the full spectrum of development and implementation of licensing and enforcement infrastructure. In particular, we have worked intensively with Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam to establish and customize strategic trade control systems and to augment border security.
Several CTP-developed software tools are in use in this region. In Taiwan, customization proceeds for the Internal Control Program tool, including a localized Restricted Parties Screening Tool that enables industry to screen for parties of concern by conducting fuzzy logic searches on national and international lists. The National Control List Portal website was developed to assist nations like the Philippines in evaluating the appropriateness of the EU Model List to their circumstances.
In recent years, we have expanded our emphasis to include crisis response training with Indonesia and counterterrorism training with Thailand.
CTP's strong relationships with local partners, such as CACDA in China, establish regional credibility, lend critical local effectiveness to events and initiatives, minimize costs, and maximize efficiency and local relevance. In Vietnam, for example, CTP's partner, the Vietnam Sourcing Joint Stock Company has a strong track record with the Government of Vietnam and critically facilitated equipment training for Vietnamese Customs officials.
